On this weekly Skeptical Podcast, or Skepticast, as we call it, we talk about all things paranormal,

controversial, pseudoscientific, fringescience, the borderlands of science we covered all.

So, about a few days ago, I was listening to MPR, and they have a new program that they're doing called What I Believe.

And it's essays by famous people talking about what they believe most.

And by coincidence, I was thinking, if I had to sum up what I believe in a sentence as they were, I would say that I believe in truth.

And just as I was thinking that this week's essayist opened up by saying I believe in truth and the pursuit of truth, which I thought was not only coincidental but perfect.

The essay has turned out to be Errol Morris. You all remember who this is?

No, I don't know.

Can't be like that.

Errol Morris is the writer and director of the movie The Thin Blue Line.

He directed it as well?

Writer and director, yes.

Okay.

What followed was actually quite a good essay on the nature of truth, the fact that the truth does.

The Thin Blue Line is a movie about a convicted person who Morris believed may have been innocent.

So he essentially re-investigated the case, investigated the evidence that the police used and the attorneys used to convict him.

And it was a documentary.
