0:17.2	happiness, no pleasure, not even instant gratification. Now most things we do
0:22.2	outside of God's will give us some kind of
0:24.1	rush in the moment right? Like gossip for instance. It's as if you can feel your
0:28.2	endorphins hatching just as you release the information even though they crash as soon as it's out of your mouth.
0:35.7	But this one, the one we're talking about today, not even an ounce of pleasure.
0:41.6	I would title Psalm 73, The Distortion. of It robs us of our perspective and our gratitude.
0:56.4	We look around of what others have to keep score.
0:59.3	And that is the feeling this Psalm is describing.
1:02.4	Listen to how it begins. Truly God is good to Israel,
1:06.4	to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled. My steps had nearly slipped, for I was envious of the arrogance
1:16.2	when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. See this Psalm starts out with the writer recognizing the
1:21.6	goodness of God. This is something we know with
1:24.4	our heads. The Bible reinforces it. But even though we know it, we don't always feel
1:30.6	that it's true. We don't always believe it. There's one thing that keeps us
1:36.3	actually prevents us from experiencing the peace and joy that come from
1:41.3	believing God is good and that thing is envy.
1:46.4	It's something we literally invite into our lives.
1:49.8	It's like we're sitting down to dinner and there's one guest that's going to ruin the whole
1:54.8	thing. And even though that one guest has a million other invitations, we say, hey,
