the simple blessing of work today. And we're looking at Proverbs chapter 20, verse number

4 and verse number 13. Verse number 4 reads this way, it says, the sluggard does not plow

in the autumn. He will seek at harvest and have nothing. So this is an agricultural image

obviously and a sluggard is a word for a lazy person. He's basically saying this person

doesn't plow to plant their crops. And then when harvest time comes, they look and they

don't have anything. They don't have any crops. Now, that's kind of common sense. If you

don't plant, you're not going to be able to reap a harvest. But the sluggard or the lazy

person seems to be kind of discombobulated by this. They just kind of expect that things

are going to happen for them or things are going to turn out for them and they should be

provided for anyway. And you see, the Bible never teaches us that. When I was pastoring

churches, we would have people coming off the street with legitimate needs and they would

expect for some reason that the church should just have resources to give them. Now, some

churches do have food banks, some churches do have benevolence funds, but some of the
