| 0:00.0 | Hello, my friends. Welcome back. It's time for the Morning Mindset. It's time for you and for me to get our minds aligned with the truth of God as it's revealed in Scriptures. |
| 0:14.0 | I'm curious, did you know that the Morning Mindset is a partner fueled podcast that means listeners like you, |
| 0:21.0 | support us financially to help us produce the Morning Mindset and other resources that are on the way, including a podcast my wife and I are doing very, very shortly. |
| 0:30.0 | As a thank you to partners, I also provide a private podcast called Digging Deeper that you have access to. If you would like to know more about becoming a partner, please go to the website carrygreen.com. |
| 0:42.0 | Or today, I want to ask you, do you know where you are going? That may sound like kind of an esoteric question or a question more suited to a goal planning or life planning sort of a session. |
| 0:55.0 | And that's not what this is, but the scriptures do talk to us about the purposes of our heart and the steps we're taking in life. |
| 1:05.0 | And we have three examples of that today from Proverbs chapter 20. Proverbs 20 verse number five says the purpose in a man's heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. |
| 1:18.0 | Okay, so what Solomon is describing for us is that sometimes we don't even know our own hearts, but other people who are wise can ask us questions, can help us evaluate what's going on in our feelings and in our thoughts and help us draw out the purposes in our own heart. |
| 1:34.0 | The motives, the things that we really are going for in life and that we feel God wants us to do. |
| 1:40.0 | So I would encourage you if you have a godly friend and you need help figuring out where you're going in life, find that godly friend. |
| 1:47.0 | Have them ask you questions, have discussions more than one and get that understanding of what's going on in your own heart. |
| 1:56.0 | Now Proverbs 20 verse 24 says a man's steps are from the Lord. How then can a man understand his way? |
| 2:04.0 | So this verse is throwing in a little bit of a caution to us when we try to figure out what's going on in our own heart. |
| 2:10.0 | And that caution is that we have to always remember God is sovereign and God is in control. |
| 2:16.0 | He often is directing us in paths that we perhaps would not choose for ourselves or we never thought of before or we might have thought I'll never go down that path. |
| 2:27.0 | Yet God in his sovereignty and in his wisdom understands what is best for us. |
| 2:33.0 | And so I don't think this verse is telling us we shouldn't seek to understand our way, but we just need to be cautious that as we do, |
| 2:42.0 | we leave room for the fact that God is in control and humble our hearts under that reality. |
| 2:49.0 | Now let's look at verse 27 of the same chapter. It says the spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord searching all his innermost parts. |
| 2:59.0 | Now this one is worded kind of strangely. It's a little hard to get your mind around, but imagine with me for a moment what is describing the spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord. |
| 3:14.0 | So it's like the Lord is holding up a lamp looking through a dark place which could be your innermost being. And it says with a man's spirit, the Lord searches all his innermost parts. Now what is his saying to us? |
| 3:26.0 | Well, it's essentially giving us a word picture to let us know even when we don't know our innermost parts when we don't know the purpose in our own souls. |
