Just you today, Raven? The bus doors hissed as they opened. I jumped inside and exhaled a vaporous

sigh as they shut behind me.

The old driver asked, his wrinkles face stretched into a warm yellow smile. Outside the mist

pressed against the windows, droplets racing down the glass. I adjusted my glasses,

waiting for the fog on them to fade. Just me, Jack, I said, dropping my bag in the seat beside him.

Behind us, several roads of seats sat empty.

It's freezing out there.

Doubt anyone else could handle this.

Jack snorted, his one good brown eye fixing on me with a stare.
