October 1st. And this is the Playbook podcast. I can't believe it's October already,

Dasha. Oh, it's October. It feels like yesterday that Trump was being inaugurated and we were looking ahead to this historic presidency. And we're 10 years older. 10 years older. It's amazing. Yeah, exactly. There's so much going on, Dasha. Let's get into it. The government has shut down. If you're listening to this this morning and you're a federal worker or you've got family or close friends who federal workers, you will be listening to this with a heavy heart.

I know hundreds of thousands of workers are expected to be furloughed. Others will be asked to work on

no pay. They say you always remember your first shutdown. Well, this is mine. Welcome to our

American government, Jag. Thank you indeed. Are you surprised it's

come to this point or do you think it was always coming to this point? No, I think anyone who's

been watching, like, predicted this actually many months ago. Look, the White House's posture has

been, we don't want to shut the government down, but if the government shut down, we feel like

we can just blame Democrats for it.

So we talked about this yesterday. We will keep talking about it. It's going to be a messaging

war. It's going to be a blame game. But meanwhile, you know, there are real people and real

lives and the crosshairs here. The thing about this White House, though, is they are not

concerned about federal workers here. They think

that most Americans, certainly their voter base, doesn't worry about federal workers losing their
