The raindrops fell in wavy streams against the foggy glass as Theresa stared out the window.

The sky had gone hazy and dark with a sudden rainstorm.

Theresa hadn't slept much since arriving to Burton Hall.

And she found herself vacantly staring, lost in thought, often.

The rain had her in one of those trances.

Dread dripped constantly in her brain, like a leaky faucet since she'd arrived.

Making even simple decisions feel heavy with consequence.

She hadn't even been able to decide on a bedroom at Burton Hall yet.

She was still sleeping on the old lumpy set tee in the drawing room, a week after her arrival.
