President Trump is speaking out this weekend as the fallout continues over the

Signal Group chat leak. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, the president told Kristen

Welker that he does not intend to fire anyone involved with sharing military plans on the

commercial messaging app. During the interview, the president repeatedly dismissed the incident

as fake news. He also referred to the calls for accountability

as a witch hunt. That's despite the fact that some members of his own party are troubled by the incident.

Republican Senator Roger Wicker, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, joined his

Democratic counterpart, Jack Reed, in requesting an investigation into the matter.

NBC News also previously reported that a number of President Trump's allies have pushed

the president to fire Michael Wals, his national security advisor.

Walls was the one who inadvertently added Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic's editor-in-chief,

to the Signal Group chat.

And just moments ago, Goldberg appeared on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker to respond to the

administration's attacks against him.

Jeffrey, I don't have to tell you this.

The administration has taken legal action against news organizations.

Are you concerned that this administration will come after you?

No, I don't get bullied. I'm not worried about that.
