So first up on the podcast today, joining Gris in the London studio is FT film critic Raphael Abraham.

Raf, welcome back on the podcast. Thanks very much. So you've recently come back from Cannes?

I have, yes.

I was there for the Cannes Film Festival,

which I'm sure everybody knows is the biggest, most famous film showcase in the world.

And you've been going for a while?

Yeah, I've been going for slightly frightening 17 years on and off.

As you say, it's the biggest film festival in the world.

Is that kind of why it's so important to keep going back?

Yeah, well, the thing with Can is you can see dozens of films in the space of

sort of 10 days and really get a feel for a lot of stuff that's coming up and stay on top

of sort of what's

happening in the world cinema scene and get an early view of what's good and what's worth

pursuing. So as a film journalist, you know, you can then work out who's worth interviewing and,

you know, which films are likely to be hot and it's just a really good way to see a lot of films and a lot of

people in a short space of time.
