Summary

Who's speaking into your life? In this message, Pastor Andy Wood introduces the idea of your "wisdom table": the voices, relationships, and content that quietly shape your perspective, your heart, and your destiny. Like a microscopic root pest that destroys a plant from the inside out, bad influences can devastate your faith before you ever notice. Drawing from the lives of King Solomon and King Rehoboam, Pastor Andy shows how even the wisest people can be undone by letting the wrong voices in. This message gives you practical steps to evaluate who's at your table, vet your influences, seek mentors for every area of life, and place King Jesus at the head. Spiritual growth is God's will for you, but the voices you listen to will determine whether you get there.

Now today as we continue our series called Get Growing, last week we launched this series,

0:04.7

and we started with one big idea, and I want to share it again with you. It's this,

0:09.0

growth is God's will for you. Do you believe that? That God wants you to grow. God wants you

0:16.1

to grow relationally, emotionally, spiritually. In fact, God has built the universe in such a way that healthy things have a way of growing and multiplying,

0:26.1

that God puts us here on planet Earth, that we might multiply, that we might make a difference with our lives.

0:31.4

And really, over time, healthy things as they're growing and are multiplying,

0:35.9

if something sneaks in along the way that causes

0:39.1

that growth to not happen, we call that decease. So what's happening is that sometimes in the

0:45.5

fallen world we live in, something will sneak in and stop the growth that God wants to give to our

0:51.2

lives. And today I want to talk about that through the angle of broccoli.

0:55.3

Does anybody like broccoli out of curiosity?

0:58.0

Way too many people like broccoli.

1:00.0

I don't understand it.

1:01.7

So I want to show you this picture here.

1:03.2

This is broccoli with some roots underneath.

1:05.3

And as you notice underneath the surface where the fruit or the vegetation is,

1:10.6

there is a root system that is fueling the nutrients for the fruit or the vegetation is, there's a root system that is

1:12.1

fueling the nutrients for the growth on top. Well, I actually, this last week, read this story about

1:18.3

these little bugs called root not nematoids. Has anybody heard of them? Not a lot of gardeners.

1:25.2

But these root not nematoids, what they do is they get into the root

1:28.7

system. They're so microscopic that you can't see them with the naked eye. And they get in there,

1:33.9

they multiply, and over the course of time, they start to eat away at the root system, and then
