She has a professor of history at NYU and a two-time winner of the Bancroft Prize.

And her new book is called The Second Coming of the KKK, The Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s

and the American political tradition.

Linda, thanks for being here.

I'm so pleased that you have me.

So the inclusion of the American political tradition, I'm assuming you included that phrase very deliberately.

Why?

Well, because I wanted people to understand that we have a long tradition of this kind of bigotry

in the United States.

Now, the Klan of the 1920s intensified it and spread it beyond previous boundaries.
