In this episode of The Jordan Syatt Mini Podcast, I speak with owner of Complete Human Performance, Alex Viada, all about Zone 2 Cardio. We discuss what Zone 2 is, why it's called "Zone 2," why it's the best form of cardio you can do and how much you should be doing every week. We also talk about Zone 2 compared to higher intensity cardio and how much higher intensity you should be doing each week to get the best of both worlds. And we break down how you can find out what your "Zone 2" is regardless of whether or not you wear a heart rate monitor.
I hope you enjoy the episode and, if you do, please leave a review on iTunes (huge thank you to everyone who has written one so far).
Finally, if you've been thinking about joining The Inner Circle but haven't yet...we have hundreds of home and bodyweight workouts for you and you can get them all here: www.sfinnercircle.com.

0:07.5 | Viata the owner of complete human performance. We already did a first episode all about zone two cardio and the benefits of that but we got so many questions about zone two cardio and just heart health in general and improving your heart rate and your resting heart rate and all the aspects of zone two cardio and the different types of cardio you can do. We just got so many questions. |
0:29.3 | I was like, you know what? I got to bring Alex back on to talk about that. So we did an open Q&A. I got thousands of questions my Instagram and we didn't answer anywhere close to all of them but we did answer a bunch and I think you're going to like this episode a lot. |
0:43.1 | Make sure you listen the whole way through we cover a ton in this episode and I really think it's going to help you and your training and your health. So with that being said, I'm going to stop talking. Actually I am going to say if you haven't joined the inner circle yet, you can do that right now. |
0:57.3 | We have a brand new app update. It is insane. The response has been huge. Thank you to all the inner circle members who have said something. It's just been it's been a huge project in an massive undertaking and the responses just been overwhelming in every amazing way possible. |

1:24.1 | Mr Alex Viyada, we are alive. How you doing, man? Good man. Good. Appreciate you. Well, I appreciate you would like to be back. But it's not like we haven't been chatting on a weekly basis anyway. |
1:36.7 | Oh, yeah. So here we'll start with this. Could you just tell everyone where they can follow you just at the beginning and then we'll get into that as well. Like if they don't follow you already, which they should. Everyone who's listening, if you don't follow Alex, make sure you do. Where can you where can they follow Alex? |
1:49.7 | Instagram Alex dot Viada last name V Victor I a DA mostly informational content up there. Sometimes the occasional. |
1:59.7 | Unhelpful motivational meme, but otherwise it's that's it. I do weekly Q and A's too. So, you know, the weekly Q and A's are very educational. I love watching those. |
2:11.3 | I even like there'll be like 50 short clips. No, watch through every single one. It's I'll spend like 30 minutes just watching it. It's super. |
2:20.3 | For everyone who doesn't know Alex and I have already done a previous podcast. I'll put the link in the show notes. We discussed a lot of the zone to cardio. We discussed all of the different zones. Alex, Alex gave up a really great overview of what all the different zone trainings mean. And if you're if you're not really sure what they. |
2:39.5 | What each zone stands for or what it encompasses or if you want to understand more about zone to make sure you listen to that episode first in this episode. I got a bunch of questions I put up a Q and A box on my Instagram basically saying any questions you have about zone to or heart rate or cardio or any of that. |
2:59.5 | Ask me and then Alex and I will discuss it here. So that's what I'm going to talk to you about Alex right now. But first actually before you even get into it. I would do it. I was just down in the gym doing my upper. So I did the sprints that you program for me, which went really well. |
3:12.5 | And then I was doing it my upper body push and there's a guy next to me and he put 225 on and he put 25 on the bench press and he goes and immediately it just goes to chess and he can't get it off. And so I think my buddy had called me but my buddy Mike had called me when I finished my sprints. So I was on the phone just getting ready for my upper body push and I'm not paying attention anything going on around me. |
3:39.5 | He's hearing like this, like some faint yelling in the background. So I like wasn't really paying attention and all of a sudden it starts to get louder and louder and this guy I think he was from France because he was like, help me. |
3:52.5 | Help me. |
3:54.5 | What's up? Did he have a clip or something? |
4:00.5 | Yeah, he had the clips on so it couldn't fall off. And so then I was on the phone. I was like, oh, shit. So I threw my phone down and I went over and I helped him bring it up. He was like, oh, thank you so much. |
4:12.5 | He was like, I was like, man, and I told him I said, you got to take the clips off. And I showed him next time. I'm like, just push the weights off. But I posted that story on my Instagram and people were like, I had no idea. |
4:22.5 | I just thought you were supposed to keep the clips on. It's like, no, take the clips off. It could save your life. Yeah, yeah. You know, it's it's really funny because the whole clip thing like I'll use them for squats. |
4:33.5 | Just so I'm walking out, you don't ship the bar. There are definitely times to use it, but bench press. Never. Even if I've got a spotter like it's never. If I'm if it's going so much that the plates are falling off without clips, like I'm doing something wrong. |
