The most influential people, the most charismatic people, have a perfect blend of two traits,

warmth and competence.

So when someone hits a stage or walks in front of a meeting or hops on a video call or calls you on the phone or walks into a room,

what we are gauging as humans, 82% of our judgment of someone else is made up of these two traits.

What's crazy about this is a lot of the time is people think they have to be funny and witty and tell great stories. Actually, 82% of our judgments are

just based on warmth and competence. So warmth is friendliness, likeability, conversational,

like that calm conversational approach, trust. Competence is power, efficiency, capability.

And we love people who have that balance of both.

If you're uneven, too powerful, so you come off as too strong, people say, oh, no, too

much.

So we actually do not like someone who hits the stage, overpowering, throwing those big words in our face, we actually

think, oh, no, this is suspicious. And too much warmth, on the other hand. So a lot of women's

struggle with this is that we're taught to be likable from a very young age. But too high warmth

without showcasing enough of that power and capability means people interrupt us. They ignore our ideas. And so that sweet
