I'm talking acres of swampy, sparkling pools of water, surrounded by tall, craggy grass.

Now these spots of liquid have an extra twinkle, because they're full of salt.

They're called saline wetlands.

There are salt flats too, dried out swaths of dirt with a crystal crust.
