Summary

In episode 442 astrologers Chris Brennan and Sam Ogden discuss the rulers of the houses in astrology, and what it means for the ruler of one house to be in another house in a birth chart. The rulers of the houses is an ancient and important element of birth chart delineation, but it is often overlooked in modern times. It is more of an intermediate level technique, because it involves combining different basic concepts surrounding the fourfold system of planets, signs, aspects, and houses. Understanding the rulers of the houses is crucial for chart synthesis, because it is through this technique that you start to see how the basic concepts work together, as well as how different parts of the chart are connected. 0:21.5	would be good to put a more practical episode here at this point in the series on an episode I've been meaning to do for quite a long time now, which is a very important sort of intermediate astrological technique in looking at the rulers of the houses and where they're located in different parts of the chart.
0:40.0	So this is a pretty important concept, I think, for for needle interpretation, right?
0:45.1	Oh, I completely agree. I think it's one of the most, I mean, it's one of the fundamental pieces of the
0:50.6	astrological science. So I think it's really not to be underestimated, a really powerful technique.

0:59.2	So this is an important, but it's an often overlooked element of chart delineation, at least when I was learning modern astrology, something like what around 1999 2000, you know, usually you you learn planets, signs, houses, aspects.
1:15.0	The next step after that though, once you get to the intermediate stage is to learn about the rulers of the houses
1:21.0	because this is where you start learning chart synthesis and how to put the different pieces of the chart together and seeing how it all works together to create a sort of consistent whole and this is basically the first step towards chart synthesis.
1:38.0	Yeah, so synthesizing the chart and that's something probably I think new learners of astrology struggle with a little bit the most right is learning how to synthesize things.
1:48.0	Yeah, you know I found that because I also teach astrology a little bit that or or you know, just little workshops here and there I found that the planets, the signs, and the aspects sometimes are the easier things to understand in the houses for some reason people seem to really struggle with.
2:05.2	But they're, you know, they're not too difficult to understand. They're pretty straightforward.
