Summary

In this episode of Strange Matters we discuss the infamous Roswell Incident, where a mysterious crashed aircraft of unknown origins was discovered near an Air Force base in New Mexico.
In the summer of 1947 a farmer came across a pile of debris scattered on the ground that appeared to be some kind of craft. Local Air Force officials came to inspect and recover the materials and claimed it was simply a crashed Weather Balloon.

Though many believed the explanation, there are some who came to believe that this was the first evidence of a crashed Alien space craft. As UFO hysteria swept the country, many others in the Roswell area claimed to see other signs of alien activity, including claims of spotting dead aliens at other crash sites.

That's right and we will be discussing the theories and beliefs of both sides of the story including the official government explanation for the incident as well as for those who believe it was all conspiracy to cover up proof that
1:14.5	UFOs do exist and have crash landed on our planet.
1:18.0	All right yeah so Roswell pretty much when you think of anything aliens Roswell is one of the first things that comes to mind.
1:25.0	I mean that along with Area 51 is probably the two biggest kind of alien ideas out there.

1:33.0	We'll probably get to talking about Area 51 at some point.
1:35.0	But in the meantime, Roswell, again, one of the most notorious conspiracies related to aliens and UFOs.
1:42.0	And this event occurred in the summer of 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico,
1:47.0	where a local sheep rancher named Mac Brazile discovered some debris in his pastures. This debris consists of stuff like metallic
1:56.2	poles, tape, plastic, and little shiny reflectors. I don't want to skip ahead too far, but it doesn't sound like alien spaceship material
2:05.8	may yeah I mean I heard he thought it was like a he could make a kite out of it or
2:11.5	something when you try to take the material home and it just I mean it all fit in like a little trucky hat or something so yeah definitely doesn't sound like a flying saucer crash or anything. I think I'd heard it described as some

2:28.7	Mac Braise was unable to identify the materials so he decides to call the sheriff.
2:35.0	And the sheriff in turn calls the Roswell Air Force Base officials which is nearby
2:40.0	and some soldiers basically speed over in trucks, pick up the material and whisked away.
