Summary

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!

Strange noises, shadow people, and being physically attacked are not things anyone seeks out in a new home. In the winter of 2012, Hunter and Jenny Scott found all this and more in their new country home just outside Rockford, Alabama. They thought they had found the perfect fixer-upper. What they really stumbled into was an experience that would later be titled The Rockford Haunting.

The murderous story and connections experienced by this family were so unique that many years earlier, the famous author Harper Lee began penning a now infamous unpublished work on it. What dark past did this home hide? What did the spirits of the deceased want? We discuss all of this and more with paranormal investigator Kim Johnson, who helped the family through this very difficult and extreme time in their life. This is Part Two of our conversation.

Welcome to part two of our interview with Kim Johnson about the rock

0:03.8

bird haunting. Let's talk a little bit more about this connection that might be

0:08.8

going on with Willie Maxwell and what went on in the 1970s at the home. What

0:16.1

did you uncover there in your research? Okay so back in 2015 Harper Lee was

0:26.6

getting ready to release her second book which was a huge big deal nationally

0:33.7

and internationally. So everybody was writing articles and talking about her

0:42.2

new book coming out and what's you know what's it going to be about. Well there

0:46.2

was an article written in the New Yorker I believe that was curious about

0:54.7

well Harper Lee was supposedly writing a different book you know back in the

0:59.9

1980s you know whatever happened to the book called The Reverend that she

1:05.6

was working on and it was based on this preacher Willie Maxwell that was from

1:16.3

the you know the Alexander city area he was a traveling preacher and he lived in

1:25.8

the area and he was also known for you know performing voodoo rituals at

1:33.9

times and there's folklore that says that you know he would hang chickens in his

1:39.2

yard to ward off evil spirits and use their blood to paint his doorstep so

1:45.5

nothing negative could come his way and people would tell us that they had

1:52.6

memories of driving by his house and seeing these chickens hanging from his

1:56.5

trees and how it always kind of spooked them and it was eerie to to see that

2:01.5

but you know when we came across that article in the New Yorker talking about

2:08.4

this voodoo preacher from you know Rockford Alabama and how he was

2:14.9

suspected of possibly killing five of his family members back in the 1970s

2:21.9

we thought oh my gosh you know maybe there's some kind of link you know maybe
