So there I was on that patch of grass outside the House of Commons.

About to go live on the 6 o'clock news about George Orlsbourne's first austerity budget.

And a man came up with a sign on a pole saying something like, stop the cuts.

I asked him to move back a bit, I asked him to get out of my way,

but he wouldn't do it. I even thought I'd cracked it.

There were two cameras because it was a big day.

And at the very last minute, I moved from one to the other to try and confuse him,

but he still spotted what I was up to.

And at the end of the broadcast with this sign right behind my head,

really putting me off, really putting the audience off,

I turned round and grabbed it.

I was off air by then,

what I didn't know was that I was being videoed.

And I was showing off to the cameraman,

and I got the sign, and I smashed it over my knee and grinned.

Until this man with the video came up and said, you proud of what you've done.

I'm reminded of that embarrassment.
