Has this dystopia arrived in Britain?

This week's cover piece by Simon Jenkins argues that the police are being militarised in response to terror threats.

And I'm joined to discuss this by the telegraphs Andrew Gilligan and Leroy Logan, a former superintendent in the Metropolitan Police.

Andrew, in Simon's piece, he says that the media and politicians are dancing to terrorism's beat in reacting to the terror threat. Do you agree with that?

Well, there's certainly an element in which the purpose of terrorism is not to kill,

it is to terrorise. And, you know, they can kill us, but not on the whole very often obviously there's

only been two successful terrorist attacks in Britain in the last 11 years um there's been

only a handful in the west as a whole um what what they hope to do is not it's not what they can

do to us it's what they can get us to do to ourselves to ourselves. So they want us to securitize the state.

They want us to, you know, alienate Muslim communities, that sort of thing.

And isn't that exactly what is happening, intentionally or otherwise?
