Hi, everyone. I'm Maggie McGrath, editor of Forbes Women. At the 28 Olympic Games, flag football will be making its debut for both men's and women's competition.

Joining us now is a flag football world champion, two-time world champion. in fact. She is Deanna Flores, and she joins

us now. Deanna, thank you so much for being here. Thank you so much for having me here. It's very

excited. So let's start with the most recent accomplishment. You were the world champion. Your team was

the world champion in 2022, but you did it again this past year. What was that like? Oh, yes. We just

came back from

China. We had an amazing year. We're in the second gold for Mexico. It was an amazing competition.

We could see the evolution of the game, like new teams rising, like the national team from

China, other contenders like US and Canada just like balling out there.

So it was an amazing competition to see the evolution of the game and how tough is getting.

Well, get into the evolution. I'm interested in how teams are growing and markets are growing.

But just to kind of rewind, I in my course of work, don't talk to all that many flag football players in general,

much less female flag football players.

How did you get into the sport?

Oh, wow.

So I started playing at the age of eight, and it was because of my dad.

My dad used to play football while in college, so he brought me to this new world.

And it was at the first, like, coincidence, or I call it destiny, that one day coming back from work,

he saw this group of girls just throwing the ball at a football field.

So next thing he did was taking me to the field just to watch the girls playing

and I fell in love with the game. It was love at first side, just the passion, just the grind of

these girls being there, being themselves. And I've been playing since then since I was eight
