Summary

British wrestler Hannah Taylor is a filmmaker, and a World War II history buff (thanks to her father), and made a short film about Auschwitz. Hannah took a small camera crew to Auschwitz, and describes what she observed and learned about the largest of the German operated concentration camps, and the horrific ways the regime abused, tortured, and exterminated those forced to inhabit it. She also talks about the rise and fall of the Third Reich, their imagery and propaganda, and what happened to many of the high-ranking officers after Germany fell to the Allied nations. Plus, Hannah shares some of the remarkable survivor stories and tales of resilience she encountered while making her short film.

1:02.3	topic of Nazi Germany so how did you originally start getting into this because it's such a deep dark
1:09.2	subject? So when I was growing up my dad was like hugely into history and he used to take me to
1:15.2	all these museums when I was younger and then I started watching movies like more movies as a teenager.
1:23.4	Do you know when you kind of become a teenager and you get more and more into what cool films are?
1:27.2	Right and I ended up studying film at university, studying my master's degree as well at university.

1:43.1	Nazis are portrayed in cinema and how it's influenced cinema and then in my third year for my
1:48.6	bachelor's degree we were tasked to make a documentary and the documentary could be pretty much anything
1:56.2	we wanted to do and I'm like a huge fan of Ziegivert of who did a movie called Man with the
2:01.3	Movie Camera I think it was the early 1920s and it's an opposite of a documentary. So it's kind of
2:06.0	where you go to a place or a city and you just have a camera. It's like the man with the movie
2:11.9	camera it's the name of the film and he just filmed all these cool things and I was like that's the
2:17.9	kind of documentary I want to do and it sounds kind of pretentious and maybe a little bit.
