I have a story about about exactly what I'm going to be talking about for the next 10 minutes

so and that's about the commander's possible return to the site at RFK, where RFK Stadium now resides,

because early Saturday morning, with unanimous consent, the Senate passed a bill that would grant

the federal government the ability to lease the land back to the district for the next 99 years.

Now, the president still must sign the bill, but once that happens, then the city can

start negotiating with the commanders about a possible return to the site at RFK. That's, they, could they have

done that without this? No, because the district, while the district still had the lease on the

land for the next 14 years, you were not going to

secure any funding for something with that short of a time frame. So this 99-year lease is

significant. So now, there are a few things still must happen. First of all, they have to negotiate a deal.

That means everything it means, right? And so, like, there's, there are some steps

there. Then the D.C. Council has to approve the funding for any project. Now, is that a slam dunk?

No. But I think it's in a better spot. I think they're in a better spot to, to win the approval by

the council than they were a year ago not a guarantee so that's something

that that um you know it's just to pay attention to there is no federal money involved in this

situation that was there there was never any federal money allocated to this situation it was only only

only about the transfer of the land, and excuse me, with the lease

to the district. That's it. Clearly, though, there will be some public funds allocated or used
