As we read the gospel records, we read eyewitness accounts of the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus.

In a sense, the gospels are just the beginning of Christ's work. The adventure continues in the

Book of Acts. In this study with

Scott Pauli, we consider the continuing work of Christ through the Holy Spirit, who works

through the apostles in the New Testament Church. Now, let's get in on the adventure.

If someone tells you that the Bible is a boring book,

I want you to know they're not reading the same Bible that I'm reading.

Returning our attention today,

beginning a brand new study in the book of Acts.

And Acts, of course, is short for action.

This is a book of action written to help us

understand the God of action, the God who is at work in this world. Acts chapter 1 and

verse number one begins this way, the former treatise have I made, O theophilus, of all that Jesus

began both to do and teach,

until the day in which he was taken up after that he through the Holy Ghost had given

commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen, to whom also he showed himself alive after

his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them 40 days, and speaking of the things

pertaining to the kingdom of God. And so begins the book that I think is one of the most exciting

books in all of Scripture. It is a reminder to us that the adventure continues. You see,

following Christ is the adventure of a lifetime. There is no adventure

like the adventure of faith. When you come to the book of Acts, many people have referred to it as
