Summary
A successful young reporter is handed a job as assistant to the incoming consul of a tiny Pacific Island with hopes that he will find some slack time to write his first book. When the new consul suddenly pulls up stakes and leaves the job to the reporter, the young man suddenly finds his hands full, including defending his side of the island from attacks by headhunters.

| 0:49.0 | and a journalist famous for his coverage of the Spanish-American War, |

| 0:55.2 | Davis, whose mother, Rebecca Harding Davis, was also a prominent writer in her day, |
| 0:59.3 | made his reputation as a newspaper reporter from May to June of 1889 reporting on the devastation of |
