and let's start there in verse 23.

In verse 23.

Very familiar passage of scripture.

I often referred to whenever we gather for the Lord's Supper, but I'm excited

about having an opportunity to slow down and look at this particularly the paragraph that comes afterward in light of,

this being our reformation observation.

When you think of reformation, observation.

When you think about the reformation,

again this morning we looked at the idea of justification by faith.

That's the battle cry of the reformation. That was the theological

underpinning of the reformation, justification by faith. But also when the reformation occurs and as the

reformation is occurring, the only way people know how to worship is the way that they've been worshiping.

So there's also a reformation in the area of worship, which brings us to what we know as the regulated principle of worship. What do we do? What do we not do? The answer

to that question for the reformers is we must offer God in worship only that which he has declared in his word. That's it. If it's

not declared in his word then we don't offer it.

It can't be presented as authentic worship.

And that deals with part of it,

but there's another part of it.

And that comes down to what we do with the Lord's Table.

The Catholic doctrine was on the Lord's Supper was central to everything.
