The late 1880s East End of London is known as the location of what can easily be described as the most enduring and unsolved murder mystery.

It was home to Jack the Ripper, whose identity has never been solved.

However, what is lesser known is that, at the same time Jack the Ripper was operational,

there was another killer on the loose, walking the same streets,

and killing women in the most gruesome of ways, too. Not only was Jack the Ripper mutilating and

butchering women in the alleys of Whitechapel, but so too was another butcher in full kill mode.

And ironically, in the middle of construction work being

carried out to build the brand new headquarters of Scotland Yards Police Department, where he left

a grisly calling card. As construction workers got busy at the chosen site for the brand new police

building, one of them had the shock of his life when he stumbled across a package in the basement foundations.

It was October the 2nd, 1888,

when a labourer discovered a parcel in the basement,

placed inside a vault.

It was established that the last time anyone had been down to the basement

had been three days earlier,

after which the entrance had been locked. Somehow, however, someone had got into the basement and left the package there.

Inside the package was a woman's torso, wrapped in black silk and tied with a piece of string.

There was no head or any other body parts in the package.

However, this wasn't the first discovery of body parts. Three weeks earlier, an arm had been found

along the shore of the River Thames, less than two miles away, in the centre of the city.

A shoulder had also been found in the same location. From the torso, the woman's
