Max Cohen, and today I'm joined by our tech reporter Diego Munoz for a fascinating

conversation on one of his stories which made a massive impact this week. Diego, how you doing?

Good, Max. Thanks for having me. How are you?

I'm doing great. And I think that there's only one way to start this episode.

And it's by asking you, how did your story, along with Ben Brody, prompt, as you put it in your great reback newsletter item, a call between the world's richest man, Jeff Bezos,

and President Donald Trump.

Well, I guess I should start with, I didn't think it was going to prompt that call.

We had this story, and we ran it on Tuesday a.m.

We expected it to make some impact, right?

We're talking about, you know, this e-commerce giant Amazon that has over 300 million active

customers in the world and over 80% of that is in the United States.

So hundreds of millions of Americans use Amazon, you know, on a daily basis.

So reporting that they would start showing how much of a product price is because of tariffs

and having that tariff costs right next to its price. We thought, this is a big story. For

sure, we knew it was going to be a big story. And we expected it to gain a lot of traction

in the business news world and, you know, CNBC and, you know, maybe it would get some attention of CNN and so on.

But we didn't expect that, the impact that it had.
