And right now on the Radio Free Hillsdale Hour, we are joined by Dr. Larry Arne, the 12th president here at Hillsdale College. Dr. Arn, thanks for joining us. Glad to do it, Scott. Thank you. The first episode, and of course we want your voice to be the first on the show. People could always go back and say, who was the first guest? Oh, it was Dr. Arn. Yeah, there you know. So let's talk a bit about what we're doing here. The Radio Free Hillsdale Hour. Why is Hillsdale doing a show like this? What do you hope listeners can gain?

Well, the prime cause is that we hired this really talented radio staff, led by Scott Bertram,

and they come up with the craziest ideas. But then the reason this idea is not fully crazy

is this is a thinking place and that means thinking deeply not just

about politics but about all the subjects you need to know to understand

politics and so maybe this is another way to make that available to interested

people we talk a lot among people on campus about radiating what we do

here outside of campus why Why is that so important

to you? Why is it so important to Hillsdale? Well, I'll tell you something interesting. Just the other day,

so the term is just starting while we're doing this. And the week before the term starts, both terms,

the student leaders of various kinds, come back early and I talked to them. And this time

was always great, but this time was particularly great. And then this young student, a girl,

she said, you know, we have a lot of donors here. Shouldn't we really concentrate on building

the culture of the campus?

And that was the last question, and I had put my coat on, and I took it off and put it down.

And we talked for 45 minutes about that, and I made these points.
