The election and the years that led up to it were a very interesting place for people who had held firm to their beliefs that this country should be a freer place.

Because as we know, freedom feels like it is an objective pursuit, but it turns out it must be subjective because there are so many disagreements surrounding it.

Now, one of my very favorite champions of liberty and freedom

for years and years who has been incredibly consistent. And he went from being kind of a goofy

comic to an intellectual lightning rod. And I have enjoyed every moment of the evolution comedian dave smith who's also the host of

the part of the problem podcast is here dave it's so nice to see you in this context and you know

you started off when i first met you as a guy who was very interested in libertarian principles who also

happened to be very funny and a performing comic, what happened that you also became that

lightning rod and became a magnet for people's arguments over the last couple years well well thank you very much

and it's great to see you and i always bring this up but you're the first person who ever put

me on television and i'll always be indebted and grateful to you for that and i loved doing your

show all those years and i don't know what happened i I think everybody else just got much, much dumber.

And then in comparison, it seemed like I was making good points.
