Summary

At the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, we hear the eight beatitudes. These are a summons to be liberated from the various addictions--to material things, to power, to good feeling, to the esteem of others--that keep us from following the will of God.

0:51.1	Often in the Gospels we'll hear this line, and Jesus taught the crowds, and Jesus preached

1:01.9	Well, Matthew gives us probably the fullest account of the way Jesus typically taught.
1:08.4	In some ways, therefore, in the sermon on the Mount, we have the platform of Christianity.

1:18.2	What's Jesus' vision of the good life, of this kingdom of God that he announces?
1:24.0	And so as we approach this text, we're on very holy ground.
