I am blessed to be joined by Teresa the Great, who is my daughter, by my Habibi, Sandy, my wife. Who else could be my Habibi, Sandy, my wife.

Who else could be my Habibi?

And tonight we're blessed also to have Mason the Militant

for Xavier and the other boys have abandoned us to go play pool.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for and don't hesitate to hit pause if your

list is long like mine.

In the Gospel of the Mass today, the parable of the prodigal son, neither the younger nor the older son

accepted what they were, sons of the father.

The younger rejected his sonship, wishing his father dead to receive

his inheritance and go and do as he pleased. The older son, by his own admission, revealed his true conviction when he said to his father,

All these years I have slave for you.

For some reason, neither son could accept that they were sons of the father.

Maybe it was the deadly sin of a chadia, otherwise known as sloth that prevented them.

Achadia or sloth is that sin in which we wish to escape the effort, the self-control, and the sacrifice that is required to be an

adopted son or daughter of God.

In our fallen human nature, it's hard.

I mean, there's stuff that we're going to have to change in our lives.

We will need to detach from disordered desires and addictions that keep us from living according to our true identity and dignity.

As I stated in yesterday's meditation, and dignity.
