Welcome to Radioheadspace and to Wednesday.

This week is all about how to live with less insecurity and more confidence.

So today I'm going to talk about one of the ways that insecurity creeps up on all of us

through self-criticism.

I'll explore why self-criticism can be so harmful and how some of your thoughts are

sneaky self-criticism you don't even recognize.

Self-criticism I don't think is actually defined by the exact words that you say to yourself.

It's defined by the energy behind that and how it makes you feel.

So in the past I would never have been able to say to myself, wow, I kind of phoned

that in.

I think I should do it again and really focus this time without that being self-critical.

Because the unspoken subtext to myself would have been, you're lazy, you don't do a good

job, that's not good enough.

Now, if that happened, I could say to myself, like, oh, I think my mind kind of wandered

and I phoned that in, let me do it again and make it better.

It wouldn't be self-criticism because the energy behind it and the feeling I have about

it would be completely neutral.

I would just be like saying to myself, oh, there's an onion in the fridge, so I need to

change the recipe.

I thought I had a shallot.
