When we speak words of gossip or slander, we sin against our family, the body of Christ.

So if I say something to someone else that is destructive about you, I'm sinning against my body.

I saw an episode of I Love Lucy not too long ago that gave a graphic demonstration of something

that the Proverbs talks about much, and that is the whole area of gossip.

We've been talking about the tongue and how our tongues have power to wound or to heal.

We've been looking at the verse in Proverbs, chapter 18, verse 21,

and I've encouraged you to memorize at least the first part of this verse

and to post it in different places where you'll see it

throughout the day, that phrase that says, death and life are in the power of the tongue.

And we've been looking at many different aspects in the book of Proverbs.

There's a lot all throughout the Scripture about the tongue, but we've been focusing

specifically on what does Proverbs have to say about the tongue.

I've been encouraging you if you've not been with us for the previous sessions to do your own

study of the book of Proverbs and to read through the book verse by verse and write out every

verse that you see that has anything to do with the tongue, the mouth, lips, and then there

are other verses that have to do with quarre, the mouth, lips, and then there are other verses that have to do

with quarreling or angry words and contentious words, gracious words, and do what I've done with

those verses, which is to put them into categories of areas that please the Lord with our tongues
