Welcome to Karen Hunter's. Awesome. I'm Karen Hunter, and in this space, I'm going to be this year doing a lot of reading and therefore talking about books and authors and talking with authors. And I was talking with

one of my producers about this prospect of going online and reading two people and having

discussions around books and she was telling me about this book that she's reading. And I thought

was very interesting. So I invited her on. Let me welcome back to Karen. Herndt is awesome.

Tramel, hello to you. Hey, Karen. So you were her on. Let me welcome back to Karen. It is awesome. Tremel, hello to you.

Hey, Karen. So you were telling me about this book? Yes, the fourth wing. And I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. It is a fantasy novel. I think Game of Thrones. I think that's the, or House of Dragons.

Yeah, House of Dragons. And a lot of fighting, a lot of war with a trace of romance, a theme of romance running through it.

So it says, Fourth Wing is an adult fantasy romance novel, feels like a lot, by American author Rebecca Yaros.

It is the first book in a series and Empirian series following the journey of

this girl Violet who was forced by her mother to join the War College and become a dragon

writer in the kingdom of Navarre. So what made you want to pick up this book? I'm always scrolling.

Like, I will go through like, it's hard to find a really good book. And I always am looking

for a page turn. Unfortunately, that's not the case most of the time. And so this was just up there

and it had like maybe 18,000 reviews. And I'm like, okay, well, yeah. A lot of people read it. Let me check it out. And so it's a decent read. I've been reading it forever because it's so long. I've read books while I'm reading this one and finish the others. But those kind of fantasy books tend to be super long. Okay. So George R.R. Martin, this lady, I hold my beard. Okay, so it's 512 pages. Okay. So you're almost done. And we were having a discussion about it because you said to me, this young lady, Violet, before she became a dragon rider, she was on her way to becoming a scribe. Right. So she'd been training her entire life to be a scribe. And, you know,

they're very important in this world as well, because a father was a scribe. And so you either choose

what either parent does, whatever you may kind of have an affinity for. So her mother is a fighter,

a rider, a dragon rider, you know, that, and then the father is a scribe.

And so because of her stature, she's very small. The book describes her as being a very small person,

not cut out to ride a dragon. Legs are simply not long enough. I won't give away anything, but yes.

So all of her life, she grown up from a very young age in the library around scribes,

reading history, reading books that are over 400 years old, know it. And it's her job to know

everything about her people and who they're fighting against and everything in between.
