First Corinthians 117 for Christ has sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel,

not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

How do you make the cross of none effect? This over here says I do not

frustrate the grace of God. For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

In other words, the cross is made of none effect.

You know what the cross, by putting these scriptures together, the cross is talking about that

it is not through law, it is not through your performance, it's not

through you atoning for your sins, but Jesus bore our sins on the cross and died for us and he made full payment.

I'm trying not to preach on this.

But it's important, most people will say, oh yeah, Jesus paid for my sins on the cross, but in practice,

most people believe Jesus made a down payment for my sins on the cross, and that I also have to pay.

It's like he put the down payment down, but you have to make the monthly installments.

You have to live holy and you have to seek and you have to pray and study the word and go to church and pay your ties and if you don't do all of these things

Then you're the one that makes the cross of none effect. No, what makes the cross of none effect

is trusting in your goodness instead of recognizing that Jesus died because we couldn't pay

for our sins.

So I believe that when you're talking about the cross,

you're talking about the fact that the law has ceased for the purpose of righteousness.

We are no longer to relate to God based on our own goodness. It's based on what Jesus did and he paid it all.
