Well, today we spoke to Tom Chivas and Jamie Susskin, two of the leading

authors in the area, about the future of algorithms and big data in politics and

public affairs. Data is everywhere.

It's the currency we use when we fill in forms online or sign up to free apps.

It's the long list of everything we've ever spent any money on

and it's increasingly being used to shape politics and

change policy the government of course got into some serious trouble last week using

an algorithm to determines teenagers school results.

The outrage resulted in lots of harrowing stories of personal unfairness, the inevitable

policy reversal, and for the first time we're all discussing publicly the usefulness of algorithm. But how much is data
