| 0:00.0 | Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the podcast of the Lusitators for Tuesday, the 9th of June, 2026. I'm joined by Stelios and Connor. |
| 0:08.4 | And today we're going to be talking about the latest horror in Northern Ireland, how the government has just come out and said, yes, it is a two-tier system and you need to live under it. |
| 0:19.6 | And Andy Burnham's handling of the grooming |
| 0:22.1 | gangs so it's all pretty serious stuff I'm afraid I don't know why we can't ever have a |
| 0:28.4 | lighthearted podcast there's no nothing good is happening in the country at the moment it seems |
| 0:32.3 | but right let's just crack on we are going to talk about the horrific incident that happened in Northern Ireland. |
| 0:40.9 | It was an attempted murder, more specifically an attempted beheading. |
| 0:45.3 | We woke up in a very bad way today. |
| 0:48.5 | We turned on our phones, X, and we came across this video, which I'm not going to play because it is very graphic |
| 0:59.1 | and we are a family-friendly podcast. Of a black migrant in Northern Ireland standing on top of a |
| 1:09.3 | citizen of Northern Ireland trying to behead him. |
| 1:13.3 | And there was massive panic there. |
| 1:16.2 | The bystanders at some point started screaming, one of them, he is trying to cut his head off. |
| 1:21.8 | And then they intervened and they saved the citizen of Northern Ireland. They managed to detain the Somalian. |
| 1:34.7 | He's a Somalian now. And the Irish person is in his 40s. He has been hospitalized. He's in a serious condition. I imagine he would be in a serious condition given the fact that this person was trying to behead him. But one good thing to say is that here is that the bystanders didn't stand idle. |
| 1:58.9 | Violence has a shocking effect. Very frequently when people encounter violence, they get stunned. |
| 2:04.6 | And sometimes they don't believe it. |
| 2:06.5 | It's a human reaction. |
| 2:08.1 | But the good thing is that their reflexes were fast enough to prevent at least the citizen from dying on the spot. |
| 2:16.9 | The additional problem is the state often criminalizes self-defense. We saw this in the Daniel Penny case. We even saw this when the London Bridge stabbing happened and you had the the guys run to the market and get like the Nile War task on the fire extinguisher to fight him off and they decided to write up in the papers that he was some sort of a far-right extremist and the police ended up looking into him. So I'm not saying people shouldn't intervene to save this guy's life. Well done to every bystander that did. But I'm not surprised that people are paralyzed with the fear that if you do the right thing, you will be the one person. Remember the case in Germany when the anti-Islam activists were attacked by the Afghan who ended up stabbing the police |
| 2:51.4 | officer in the neck because the police grabbed them as if they were the ones causing the problem, |
| 2:56.9 | leaving the guy who was actually attacking the knife completely free to murder one of the police. |
