Go to Luke, please, the 12th chapter.

Luke 12, there was a man in verse 13 that came to Jesus and said,

Master, speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me.

He was just sure Jesus would side with him

and tell his brother

to quit being like that

and divide the inheritance with him.

You know, Martha was so sure

Jesus would tell her sister to get her lazy self up and come help her.

She was, because she was just sure that Jesus thought just like her.

And so oftentimes, as a case, people think yeah you mean jesus are on the same page on this

and and if they found out the truth it's not so and he said you know would you tell him

and jesus said verse 14 he said man who know, would you tell him? And Jesus said, verse 14, he said, man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

That was not the answer he was looking for.

And he said to them, take heed and beware of covetousness.

See, the man thought his big deal was getting the part of the inheritance that he felt belonged to him and was coming to him.

And Jesus said, no, you shouldn't be focused on that.

You should be watching about covetousness.

The Bible said in Colossians, covetousness is idolatry.

Is that serious?

Hmm?

Is it just as bad to be a little covetous as being a little idolatrous?
