For more than 300 years, pianists have captivated audiences,

while composers for piano have pushed the boundaries of music.

In her new book, The Piano, A History in a Hundred Pieces, the author and pianist Susan Tomes tells this story by highlighting some of the most impressive pieces of piano music

ever written and sharing the stories of the composers who penned them.

Susan will be launching the book with a concert at Wigmore Hall this Friday,

the 23rd of July, and I spoke to her to find out more.
