Summary
Tammy and her husband had almost made it through another December without thinking too much about the anniversary of his brother’s death.
Then, late one night after returning home, his phone rang. The caller ID stopped them cold.
At first, they tried to explain it away. Maybe one of the kids still had the number. Maybe someone had reactivated the phone. Maybe there was some completely normal explanation for why a dead man’s name was suddenly appearing on the screen.
But when the calls kept coming—and all they could hear on the other end was silence and static—the situation became harder to dismiss.
Especially after they discovered where the phone had supposedly been the entire time.

And they knew exactly who she was because she was in there every other goddamn week with her fucking phone. She couldn't figure something out, right? Yeah. Oh, yeah. She's gone. Blah, blah, blah, blah. I had to bring in the freaking death certificate to prove to them that she was dead in order for her to get out of her fucking contract. |
