What do you do when somebody knows the past version of you and they treat you like that?

They treat you like the person you used to be, but you're no longer that person. That's the dilemma with family and it's something I ran into with a couple family members that I had to show up as a different person to them and it was hard.

It was very difficult because when people know you all your life and then you're a different person the next time

they see you, but they don't treat you like a different person, what do you do? How do you respond to that? Now the easy answer is just be yourself. Just be that person and then see what happens. But they know your triggers, they know your buttons, they know everything about you because they've

known you all their lives.

Again that's with family.

Family knows who you are, where they believe who you are because to them that's who you are and who you've always been and who you'll

always be. And I notice this with people who they themselves don't change.

They have been the same person all their life

and they expect other people to be the same person as well.

And maybe somebody might listen to this show and say, I went to high school with that guy.

How different is he now?

He used to be a joker.

He used to be a long-haired hippie skateboarder. a We all mature in different ways. Well, some of us mature in different ways. And some of us keep some of our quirks and qualities and I believe I still have the same sense of humor, although it's matured.

It's not so much toilet humor anymore.

And I think people who knew me back then

might hear this podcast and think,

who is this guy?

Like if they didn't know who I was on the air

and they just started listening to me,

they wouldn't say, hey, this sounds like Paul.
