It was sin that put Jesus on the cross, not the Jews, not the Romans.

As we begin a new week today, we're continuing to look at Jesus and his astounding saving love.

Today, Roll will guide us in thinking about the depth of passion that fueled Christ's journey from heaven's glory to a criminal's cross.

We'll consider how Jesus perfectly fulfilled

ancient prophecies of a Savior and willingly suffered a violent death so that we could enjoy

eternal life with him. Here's Roll Rees. This morning, what I want to do is I want to take you

through the passion of Christ. I want to take you in the passage of Isaiah

chapter 53. But let me give you a little bit of background so you understand who Isaiah is and why I am

talking about Isaiah this morning. Isaiah was a prophet and the prophecies of Isaiah were actually made 750 years before Christ

was ever born, which is amazing. The book of Isaiah speaks more about Jesus Christ than any other

book in the Old Testament. And what's interesting is that Isaiah prophesied in the kingdom of Judah.

The kingdom of Israel, the northern kingdom already, was going to be judged by God.

And God rose up Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.

In the last days of the history of Judah right before the Babylonians came to take the people of God into captivity for 70 years.

And then the prophecy of Isaiah was written by the prophet himself and it falls into two major categories. The first part,

the first 39 chapters of Isaiah declared God's forthcoming judgment against the sins of the people

of that time. The second part of Isaiah is designed to bring comfort to those who were to be carried into captivity,
