Today on Velshi, what Republicans who blocked an investigation of the January 6th

Good morning. It is Saturday, May 29th. I'm Ali Velshi. Right now, a Russian-based hacking group

dubbed Nobilium, the group responsible for last week's

Solar Winds attack, is engaging in another major hack, targeting major government agencies, think

tanks, and other organizations. Nobilium is believed to be run by Russia's Foreign Intelligence

Service, and according to Microsoft, the attacks are ongoing and part of Nubilium's intelligence

gathering efforts. Microsoft says this latest attack has targeted 3,000 email accounts across

150 organizations in at least 24 countries and has been going on since at least January,

which is right at the ends of the solar winds attack. The news comes just days after the White

House announced that President Biden will meet with Russia's Putin in Geneva on June 16th.

Mark Warner, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a statement, quote,

we must make clear to Russia and any other adversaries that they will face consequences for

this and any other malicious cyber that they will face consequences for this and any other malicious cyber

activity. The Republican Party has made it clear that the party, it is the party of insurrection.

Senate Republicans yesterday blocked the bill to create a nonpartisan commission to investigate

the January 6th insurrection, a bill that was negotiated in good faith by members of its own party.
