Summary

We’ve all got something we’re scared to talk about. Maybe you still live at home, haven’t had sex yet, just lost your job, or are quietly working through something painful. So many of us carry shame about parts of our lives we think others will judge, but the truth is, everyone’s going through something. In this solo episode, I’m talking about what it means to truly own your story. Not justify it. Not explain it away. Just own it. I’ll share examples, reframes, and reminders to help you feel more confident in the parts of your life that might feel complicated or hard to say out loud. This episode is your permission slip to stop hiding and start showing up exactly as you are. Donate to my Planned Parenthood Marathon Fundraiser at fundraisers.nyrr.org/ilana

Hello, hello.

0:10.3

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day today, a wonderful night, a wonderful morning, wherever you are.

0:16.2

I hope it's great.

0:16.9

And if it's not, I hope this episode turns it around or makes your day one percent better.

0:22.2

That's something that I feel like I have learned lately of trying to be one percent better every day.

0:29.0

And it's hard, but there are little ways that I've found that help. I keep thinking back to the

0:35.4

recording I had with Dr. Harry Cohen, which I believe, if my

0:41.0

calculations are correct, came out last week. But his whole philosophy of, you know,

0:46.0

be the sun, not the salt, and be positive, exude positivity. And that, you know, is contagious. I've been thinking about that a lot

0:56.8

lately just in my daily conversations. When someone's like, oh, how are you? It's like, we all have

1:02.0

a million and one things we can complain about. And it's easier to complain, actually, than to say,

1:08.4

I'm great or to share something positive that's happened. And I've caught

1:14.6

myself almost being negative and being like, but why do I have to be negative? Like, just to make

1:20.3

someone feel bad for me about something, like, or just to commiserate. Like, I could share something

1:27.2

positive and maybe that person would be happy and also

1:31.2

share something positive back and we'd all just feel more glass half full.

1:34.8

So I hope that made sense.

1:36.4

If you haven't checked out last week's episode with Dr. Harry Cohen, I think definitely do it.

1:41.1

It's about dating in relationships, but it's also just about living

1:45.4

life in a much better way and, you know, impacting the people around you in a beautiful way.

1:52.8

So I've just been thinking about that lately and I wanted to share it. So I hope you guys are
