Now, the ongoing concept has got to be in the running for me for most DIY band in the catalog,

and they've achieved all kind of innovative and amazing things, like building their own instruments from scratch.

And the journey they've been on has been shaped by those that came before, but it's this

long quest for the artist to have as much creative control as possible. And that's been enabled

by the explosion of technology and also been assisted by some supportive and quirky childhood

environments. But that desire to control everything has disadvantages too. And so that makes

for a really interesting podcast. Dawson has a very cool mind and I really enjoyed this conversation.

Let's talk more about your family being DIY. yeah yeah that's a huge deal like what um

I don't exactly know how old you are and what years you're growing up

and how you encounter DIY and then connect that to

being a solid state band that makes their own instruments records their stuff

directs their own videos like that's help me get to how that happens

from the family of origin I love it I love it that you know that much about us.

Okay, cool. I'm trying, I was thinking about this today. I was like, there's a lot of history,

and I don't know how much time you have, but because I talk. Well, I mean, that's the part that to me,

the origins are very, very fascinating. Yeah. Because really, to me, it's the minds behind the movement.

It's kind of the language that pops in my head.

It's like, who, what are these minds of these people or even their parents or whatever that

wind up, you know, doing that.
