What is up everyone? This is Alex Lieberman, co-founder and CEO of Morning Brew coming to you with another episode of the Founders Journal.

Today we talk about on-boarding, specifically employee on-boarding.

It is one of the most important touch points

in an employee's career, and people do not

Let's dive into it.

We've been on-boarding people for years now. We have we've onboarded more than 50 people over the last four years

We've met half of them in real life. No more than that more than half nobody it's close but it's close to half. Well, there have been 21 people that have started since January.

I don't know the number that have started since March, but the number is in at least a dozen that we have not met in person since

COVID started. The lines between real life and digital life are blurring there's no

difference so what's different this time and we have somebody starting tomorrow, we had

somebody starting yesterday, we've got interns, so there's a flurry of new people to

the system as of today, June 20, June 20th.

30th, geez.

Yeah, it's crazy almost July.

So I think that we are just in an inflection point in the business where we have the opportunity to spend time focused more on things like

onboarding and candidly I think we should be expecting to do more of ourselves.

We're going to be growing the company really quickly

over the coming six months and beyond that.

And I think we have the capacity now to really think holistically about onboarding and not just think about it as like a

a logistics challenge but think of it as like an emotional and knowledge challenge as well and I think this is

very very normal for any business is in the beginning all you are thinking about is what are literally the tools that this person needs to do their job and now we have the luxury of asking ourselves other questions beyond just what are the tools like how do we go beyond just giving them a computer
