For those of you that are joining for the first time, the Founders Journal is my daily diary where I talk about the biggest things happening behind the scenes at Morning Brew.

And today, the biggest part of my day was State of the Bruneian.

Yes, we have something called State of the Bruneian.

At other companies, it's called a town hall.

So what I want to do is quickly explain to you what our State of the Bergenian is.

And then I want to share, I believe it's 11 or 12,

of the most important learnings

that I've had over the last several quarters

in creating and presenting this quarterly meeting for 30 to 60 minutes to the

entire organization. So first, what is a State of the Bruneian? State of the

Bruneian is Morning Brew's quarterly meeting that centers us all on where we've been, where we are, and where we're going.

And what I tell to our team is each State of the Bruneian, you should walk away with three things.

You should understand our purpose as a company.

You should understand what we've accomplished the last quarter.

And you should understand what we are working towards in the coming quarter.

So I want to start by sharing my lessons.

The first lesson being,

don't miss quarters.

We missed last quarter state of the Burrhenian, which meant that this was a recap of the entire first half of the year of 2020.

Consistency is so key with these meetings so that people are given a sense of direction frequently enough
