So make yourselves comfy, and I'll begin. Once upon a time, a poor servant girl was travelling with the family for whom she worked, through a great forest, when suddenly a band of robbers jumped out of the thicket and took all of them away.

But the girl had jumped from the carriage and hid behind a tree.

She was in such a fright.

But she soon realised that she was savedonce the robbers left with the family,

"'their carriages and all of their riches.

"'She came out from behind the tree

"'and began to weep.

"'Now, what is a poor girl like me supposed to do now?

"'I do not know how to get out of the forest,

"'and not another soul lives here.

I shall surely starve. She walked and walked, looking for another road, but found none.

When evening fell, she sat under a tree and resolved that she would wait there and not go anywhere

no matter what happened.

It was not long after that a white dove flew down to her with a golden key in its mouth.

It put the key in the palm of her hand and said,

Do you see that great big tree there yonder?
