2013 conversation with author and political commentator Tucker Carlson. Carlson has hosted the

nightly political talk show Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News since 2016. Before that, he co-founded The Daily Caller, a conservative

news and opinion website. Here not to talk about this interview is World Editor-in-Chief,

Marvin Olasky. Marvin, great to see you again. Oh, great to see you, Jill. Well, before we

discuss the interview itself, I want to ask you about some of the controversy

Carlson has stirred up since this interview took place. In 2018, he made some comments on his

Fox News, primetime show Tucker Carlson tonight about immigration. Let's listen.

We have a moral obligation to admit the world's poor, they tell us, even if it makes our own country poorer and dirtier and more divided.

Now, his show lost a dozen sponsors over this comment.

Marvin, what's your take on the controversy?

This interview with Tucker was in 2012 when he was editing a political news site,

The Daily Caller.

Now that he's a big Fox News personality,

maybe he plays to some prejudices. I'd say immigrants generally have made our country richer and better.

I've certainly seen that in Texas. What made you want to interview Carlson? Oh, Tucker was the most amusing

editor I knew, and at least in those days, he didn't take himself seriously. I don't know what

he's like these days. Tucker was also honest in reporting the behavior of his wife, their four

children, their two dogs. He said all of them, except the dogs, read the New York

Post, which is not the most high-toned publication. And so what do the dogs read, just out of curiosity?

Jill, that's exactly the right question, and I also asked it. Tucker replied, they just stare at the

refrigerator, just like my dog. That's what your dog does. Is it
