| 1:00.4 | I wanted to start by asking what prompted you to invite John Dickerson to sit down for an interview? |
| 1:06.2 | Well, we had had some correspondence over the years. |
| 1:09.9 | I tend to like journalists. |
| 1:13.6 | Very interesting people, but often not very nice people. |
| 1:18.1 | And John Dickerson impressed me as both a good writer and a nice person, which is rare. |
| 1:24.1 | Why do you describe him as a nice person? |
| 1:26.7 | Well, he grew up in very affluent circumstances. His dad had a lot of wealth, and his mom, Nancy Dickerson, was very well known as a female journalistic pioneer. And they did a lot of entertaining in their home in the Washington area with all kinds of politicians in. |
